Attorney at law, graduated
in 1981 at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica
de São Paulo (PUC-SP) , where he obtained his
Masters Degree with a dissertation entitled “Disregard
of legal entity” (1985), his Doctorate with the
thesis “Law and Power” (1991), and his
livre docência (similar to post- PhD) with the thesis
“The Entrepreneur and consumer rights”
(1993).
Prof. Dr. Fábio Ulhoa Coelho is a Full
Professor at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica
de São Paulo, where he has been lecturing since
1982, in the disciplines of Philosophy of Law, Commercial
and Corporate Law. Currently, he dedicates his time to post-graduate
programs and courses where he holds the position of Coordinator
of Commercial Law in Masters and Doctorate programs and
the Corporate Law Specialization Course of PUC-SP. He lectured
in the post-graduate program at the Universidade Mackenzie
(from 1991 to 1994) and at the Law School of Faculdades
Metropolitanas Unidas (from 1983 to 1985). He is Honourable
Professor at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie Law School.
He has been delivering
lectures in Brazil and abroad.
He is the author of many important
juridical works, amongst which stand out “Commercial
Law Course” in three volumes, "Commercial
Law Manual”, " Annotated Commercial Code
and Complementary Statutes”, and “Private
Law Course” (which is intended to have a total
of five volumes), “Disregard of legal entity”,
“Brazilian Antitrust Law”, and “The
Entrepreneur and consumer rights”. He is also
the author of chapters in collective works such as “Current
Aspects of the Financial and Capital Market Law”,
published in two volumes, and “The Reform of Business
Corporate Law ”. He has also published several
articles in specialized magazines and newspapers.
Since 1992, he has been a member of the Société
de Legislatión Comparée, founded in 1869,
with its headquarters in Paris. Since 1994 he has been a
member of the Instituto Brasileiro de Direito Comercial
Comparado Biblioteca Tullio Ascareli (Brazilian Institute
of Comparative Commercial Law and the Tullio Ascarelli Library
), which are part of the Department of Commercial Law at
the Universidade de São Paulo (USP) Law School. He
is the vice-president of the Instituto Brasileiro de Direito
do Seguro – IBDS (Brazilian Institute of Insurance
Law –IBDS) .
