Prof. Dr. Fábio Ulhoa Coelho has been requested to give legal opinions and advice regarding matters of a highly complex nature in the areas of his academic and professional expertise.
The legal opinions as well as the advice are methodical and thorough studies concerning legal subjects that are aimed at answering the questions put forward by the consulting party. They are equally conclusive. They differentiate themselves in terms of the size of research and to whom they are addressed. The legal opinion goes into depth, presenting considerations of general theory, philosophy and history of law and comparative law, as long as they are useful in answering the questions presented. It is directed to judges, government authorities or others, depending on to whom the client would like to have a legal matter clarified. The advice, on the other hand, is restricted to research of the existing Brazilian Law in effect, doctrine and national jurisprudence. The advice has a managerial character and it is usually designed to serve as an instrument of administrative decision-making in the client’s company.
